About ChurchVeils.com

ChurchVeils.com began with a modest nudge from the Lord. As a child, I was required to wear a veil. The Church asked that women come into Mass with head coverings. My Grandma made my veils, though I frequently could not find one as we ran out the door for Mass and I would bobby pin a tissue to my head as I scrambled for my place in the pew. As a child of the 60's, I did not have a very charitable attitude about this requirement...

When my youngest entered the youth group at our church I noticed that the teens had begun to wear veils to adoration and Mass. I saw such humility on their sweet faces. This caused me to want to experience the same.

I decided to make myself a veil. Though I felt slight trepidation and discomfort, I began wearing it to Adoration and Mass. Women and girls at the church loved the veils and wanted one for themselves. I offered to make them one. I began sewing veils in all styles, colors, and laces. In truth, I would sew any lace and trim I could get my hands on, just to create new and different styles.

Then, COVID happened. Everything shutdown, almost overnight. I was home, and unable to work.

Unbelievably, the churches closed too. My daughter learned to sew as well. She created some veils and would drive to her friend's houses, dropping the veils at their doors. She would call her friends when she left giving them an "all clear" to pick up their veil. We spent the rest of the COVID shutdown sewing veils; at least until there was no lace left to buy. The two original veils I created are pictured on the left.

This was the beginning of ChurchVeils.com. I have continued to make different styles and types of veils to sell to those who choose to return to this beautiful tradition.

My goal is not to mass produce veils. Each of my veils is unique. Each is hand crafted and one of a kind. I also add a hair clip and a simple cross or crucifix on each veil. Each is created with great love and prayer for the recipient.

Thank you for visiting my online store. Teresa

Veils remind me to enter into the presence of God with great humility.

I hope they do the same for you!

Why Return to Veils?

Though veils were a burden for me to wear as a child, today I feel a great freedom in being able to choose to cloister myself from the distractions of the world for a moment, to pray, like a child, behind my lace veil.

St. Paul says that the Church is the Bride of Christ. My veil reminds me that this is how Jesus sees me. Like His Bride. The world’s view of me is quite different from this view.

Also, I feel united with our Blessed Mother in my veil. I long to pray as she prayed, “Be it done unto me according to Your will…”
